Help getting started with My Aged Care
Know where to start, what to expect and what the letters actually mean
Book Your Free Discovery Call
My Aged Care is the Australian Government's starting point for aged care services. You use it to register, apply for an assessment and receive letters about what you're approved for. It's free, but it can be hard to follow. AJQ Care Advisory helps families get started, understand each step and know what to do next.
Where families usually get stuck
- Not knowing whether to call, go online or ask the GP
- Being asked questions on the phone they weren't ready for
- Setting up access so a family member can help manage things
- Letters full of codes and terms that don't say what to do next
- Waiting and not knowing if anything is happening
How we help you get started
- Explain how My Aged Care works and what happens at each step
- Help you get ready before you call or apply online
- Help family members get set up to support their parent
- Go through every letter with you, in plain English
- Tell you what's next, so you're never left waiting without a plan
Doesn't My Aged Care already do this?
My Aged Care is the front door, and you'll always need it. It tells you what exists and handles the official steps. What it can't do is sit with your family, work out what's right for you, and stay with you once the letters start arriving. That's the gap we fill.

My Aged Care questions
How do I register with My Aged Care?
You can apply online through the My Aged Care website or by phone. A GP or hospital can also refer you. We can help you get ready first, so you have the right details on hand.
Can I help my parent deal with My Aged Care?
Yes. Family members can be set up to speak with My Aged Care on a parent's behalf. We can explain how that works and help you get it sorted.
Is an aged care advisor the same as My Aged Care?
No. My Aged Care is the government's official service. An independent advisor like AJQ works for your family, helps you understand the process and stays with you as things move forward.
